Classic Worship Ensembles
Traditional Ensemble
Repertoire:
- Mostly selections from The Celebration Hymnal
Composition:
- Consists
of four-part (SATB) harmony, keyboard instruments (piano, organ, and keyboards), and may also include other wind or string instruments
Skills Needed:
- Both vocalists and instrumentalists need to be able to read music
- Previous experience in a similar group is recommended
D7 Ensemble
Repertoire:
- Hymns and other songs done in the styles of folk, country, or bluegrass
Composition:
- Varied number of singers
- Instruments may include a combination of
guitars, banjos, mandolins, dobros, string basses, fiddles, and
harmonicas
Skills Needed:
- Vocalists should be comfortable reading or inventing harmonies
- Instrumentalists should be able to read chord charts and play within the appropriate style
- Soloing ability, vocally or instrumentally, is not required, but basic improvisational skills are quite helpful
