Contemporary Ensemble
Reportoire:
- Primarily focused on praise choruses written within the last 5-10 years
- Occasional new arrangements of older songs
Composition:
- Consists of multiple singers, and various combinations of piano, keyboard, guitar, bass, drums, auxiliary percussion, and horns
Skills Needed:
- Vocalists should be able to:
- Comfortably read or invent harmonies
- Sing from lead sheets (melody line), chord sheets (words and chords), or hymn sheets (SATB)
- Blend and balance with other singers
- Sing while clapping, stomping, bobbing, or using an auxiliary percussion instrument
- Instrumentalists should be able to:
- Play from lead sheets or chord sheets (see above for descriptions of each)
- Blend and balance with other musicians
- Both vocalists and instrumentalists should be able to:
- Quickly learn new songs and/or parts with sheet music and/or an audio recording
- Express genuine* engagement in worship
- Be flexible to change as the Spirit leads
