KIDS MINISTRY DIRECTOR & COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

​Position Summary:

The Kids Ministry Director & Communications Coordinator provides leadership and oversight in two key areas of the church’s mission: discipleship of children (birth–5th grade) and communication with the church body and community. This dual role exists to help children grow as disciples of Jesus and to ensure that all church communication—digital, written, and visual—is clear, effective, and mission-aligned. The ideal candidate is relational, organized, ministry-minded, and able to manage both people-oriented and creative tasks.

Position Status: Full-Time 

​

Essential Responsibilities:

​Kids Ministry Leadership (Approx. 25 hours)

  • Leadership & Vision

    • Work with the Next Gen Pastor and Senior Pastor to develop and implement a clear vision for children’s ministry (birth–5th grade) aligned with the church’s mission.

    • Participate with the Next Gen Pastor in overseeing curriculum selection to ensure biblically sound, age-appropriate instruction.

    • Plan a cohesive discipleship pathway for kids and families.

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Management

    • Recruit, train, schedule, and support volunteers for nursery, preschool, elementary, and special events.

    • Maintain volunteer background checks and ensure Safe Church/Child Protection policies are followed.

    • Provide ongoing encouragement and leadership development for volunteers.

  • Programming & Events

    • Plan and oversee weekly Sunday programs, midweek programs, and seasonal events (VBS, Christmas program, family events).

    • Ensure classrooms and spaces are prepared, safe, and welcoming.

    • Collaborate with pastoral staff on churchwide events involving children.

  • Family Engagement

    • Communicate with parents regularly about teaching content, events, and spiritual formation resources.

    • Develop partnerships with parents to support discipleship in the home.

  • Administrative Oversight

    • Manage the kids ministry budget.

    • Oversee check-in/check-out systems, attendance tracking.

    • Maintain ministry supplies and resource organization​

Communications Coordination (Approx. 15 hours)

  • Internal & External Communication

    • Maintain consistent messaging across all communication channels.

    • Prepare weekly email newsletters, announcements, and Sunday service communication pieces.

  • Digital Presence

    • Manage and update the church website.

    • Oversee the church’s social media platforms (posting, engagement, messaging).

    • Monitor online inquiries and direct them to appropriate staff.

  • Graphic Design & Media

    • Create print and digital graphics for events, ministries, and sermon series.

    • Design and oversee production of printed materials (bulletins, signage, brochures).

  • Project & Workflow Management

    • Create and maintain communication timelines for major ministries and events.

    • Coordinate with ministry leaders to ensure timely promotion and clarity of messaging.

 

Qualifications:

  • Required Qualifications

    • A growing follower of Jesus with a heart for children and families.

    • Experience serving or leading in children’s ministry settings.

    • Strong communication and organizational skills.

    • Ability to lead, encourage, and equip volunteers.

    • Competency with digital communication tools (e.g., social media, website platforms, email).

    • Basic graphic design ability (e.g., Canva, Adobe, or similar tools).

    • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with reliability and grace.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Previous church staff experience in children’s ministry and communications.

    • Experience with church management software (e.g., Planning Center).

    • Skills in photography, videography, and advanced graphic design.

    • Familiarity with communication strategy, branding, and marketing principles.

 

Spiritual Expectations

  • A clear profession of faith in Jesus Christ and commitment to live as His disciple.

  • Agreement with the church’s doctrinal statement and mission.

  • Willingness to minister in a manner that reflects the heart and unity of the church.

  • Commitment to maintaining a lifestyle consistent with biblical leadership (1 Tim. 3; Titus 1).

  • Active participation in the life of the church.
     

Work Schedule & Expectations

  • 40 hours per week

  • Scheduled hours are Sunday to Thursday 

    • Fixed times are: Sunday morning, Tuesday Staff Meeting, Wednesday night, as well as some office hours on Monday and Thursday.

    • Other work times are more flexible  

  • Attendance at Sunday services and major churchwide events is expected.

  • Some evening or weekend hours may be necessary for programs and events.

  • Regular collaboration with pastoral staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers.

  • Shall become a member of the church

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 lbs.

  • Ability to oversee active environments with children.

  • Ability to move throughout building spaces and set up ministry environments.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Pay: $20 per hour

  • Benefits (health, dental allowance, and PTO) will be provided. Specific details to be discussed during the interview process.
